Food and Accommodation

  • All students will be allotted independent rooms in the hostel i.e. each student will be given a separate room.
  • Every room is provided with a bed, almirah,a table and a chair. One should bring few set of FORMALS for orientation programs, shorts/track pants and a pair of sports shoes for the Compulsory Physical Activities(CPA). One can also bring a lab coat ,drafter and scientific calculator which would be useful in certain courses in the first year or buy them from the shops in institute itself.
  • In general, the mess food is quite good. Proper quality checks are carried out frequently. Mess environment is clean and healthy & different sections are available for Veg ,Non Veg and Jain meals. We have a canteen as well as fine dining within the campus just in case the student wants something new to eat. We also have an amul parlour inside the campus.

Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur was established in 2008 and since has shown exemplary growth as a premier Indian Institute by nurturing technical competence and holistic development of its students. The institute currently hosts 100 faculty members and 63 staff working on a sprawling 852-acre modern campus. IIT Jodhpur is committed to innovation and technological development through state-of-the-art laboratories and ongoing national and international projects and collaborations. The institute offers courses at graduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels through 9 departments.

  • The campus of IIT Jodhpur is divided by NH 65 into Pocket A and Pocket B. The Academic Area amd Residential Areas of the Institute are located in Pocket A. The Academic Area consists of the Main Building, which houses all the administrative offices of the Institute, The Learning Hub, i.e., the Lirbary of the Institute, the Lecture Hall Building, Laboratories, and the Department Buildings. The First Building of IIT Jodhpur, which is also known as the Project Building is located in Pocket B. Presently Kendriya Vidyalaya, IIT Jodhpur runs from that building.
  • IIT Jodhpur offers plenty of opportunities for the holistic development of Students. Apart from intensive academics with regular classes, assignments and quizzes, Students are encouraged to pursue extra-curricular activities of their choice throughout the year. Two major festivals are organized every year with active participation from hundreds of students form colleges across the nation.Thus, students can prove their mettle and nurture their talent. In addition, everyday life at the Institute has plenty of scope for fun, joy and learning.
  • To provide a platform to students to get real-life experiences and to improve quality of holistic life of students on campus, the Campus Life Society was formed. The Permanent Campus of the Institute is being constructed. Work to build Phase 1 of the campus began in March 2015. When complete, it will be the first fully-planned technical institute campus in India. More importantly, it will be an international exemplar of sustainability with strategies for ensuring NET ZERO ENERGY, WATER and WASTE. The other salient features of the Permanent Campus are:
(1) Walking campus, which is pedestrian oriented and bicycle dominant;
(2) Learning facilitated anywhere, anytime with wireless ICT backbone (including Multi-media enabled learning spaces with flexible, shared public spaces);
(3) Thermally comfortable smart buildings with GRIHA 4/5 star compliant buildings and GRIHA LD benchmark campus (including dense desert settlement morphology, low height buildings (up to a maximum of 3 storeys) built with low embodied energy materials, and improved local and traditional methods);
(4) Plantation with native species, soil stabilization, protection from dusty wind to arrest erosion, desertification, and building-up soil moisture over time;
(5) Rain water harvesting, and water reduction and sewage recycling, together greening the site over time; and
(6) Segregated wastes and customized recycling

Admissions & Cut-Offs

Every year, the cut-off is decided once the total applications have been processed.

Candidates with a valid test score (CAT for Indian applicants, and GMAT/GRE for international applicants) need to fill an online application form available in the institute website (https://oa.iitj.ac.in/onlineMBA/).
For Indian applicants, admission process follows the two-step process

(1) Shortlisting, for an online personal interview, based on the percentile of candidates in the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by IIMs
(2) Final list for admission based on 80% (CAT Score) + 15 % (Interview) + 5% (work experience)

 

a. Initial Shortlisting

An initial shortlist shall be done based on the overall percentile in CAT. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for Personal Interview (PI)

 

b. Interview Process

Personal Interviews (PI) is proposed to be conducted online during March and April 2020. The candidates would be asked to indicate their preferred slot (date & time) for the online interview (through Webex/ Zoom/Skype etc) while filling the application. Each shortlisted candidate would be interviewed by a panel of one or more experts.

Specialization

Flagship program for regular students, IIT J is going to offer MBA programs with differences. Tech-MBA is highlight of the package.  It remains a two-year program, where first-year will be devoted to foundation courses and the full second year will be available to earn specialization into cutting edge areas. The school will offer specializations in two directions—in traditional areas to earn a regular MBA degree, while tech courses to earn Tech-MBA degree.

Scholarships

Merit Scholarships :
Yes, there are various kinds of merit scholarships available to the candidates.
         
  • Full fee waiver to the topper student (in the first semester based on initial merit list; II semester based on GPA of I semester, III semester based on GPA of I+II semester, IV semester based on GPA of I+II+III semester)
  • 50% fee waiver to second topper student (in the first semester based on the initial merit list, II semester based on GPA of I semester, III semester based on GPA of I+II semester, IV semester based on GPA of I+II+III semester)
  • 25% fee waiver to the third topper student (in the first semester based on the initial merit list, II semester based on GPA of I semester, III semester based on GPA of I+II semester, IV semester based on GPA of I+II+III semester)
  • Merit cum means scholarships for EWS students (50% fee waiver)
Also, candidates can avail of various government-sponsored scholarships to the candidates pursuing an educational degree at the central government-funded institutes.

College Events

  • Ignus:The Inter college Socio-cult-tech fest IGNUS epitomizes the same.Ignus witnesses the participation of numerous stalwarts in the various arenas offered. The fest gives a platform to some of the country’s best hidden and unfathomed talents. With the total footfall amounting to about 1015 thousand, Ignus has witnessed the absorbing performance of famous artists like Andrew Newton, the band Pentagram, Shilpa Rao, Javed Ali among others.
  • Varchas: It is the sports fest of IIT Jodhpur organised every year in the month of February. This year it was organised from 30thOct to 2nd Nov. Varchas celebrates the spirit of sportsmanship and serves as a platform to showcase countless hours of perspiration put in by college teams to achieve excellence in sports. Varchas was first conducted in the year 2011, with a vision of promoting sports among the colleges of India, particularly Rajasthan and providing the athletes in India a platform to showcase their talent.
  • Spandan: It is the intra college cultural fest of IIT Jodhpur. Usually the first fest of the session, it is participated by an enthusiastic crowd, eager to portray their talents in the cult arena. Versatility in the various categories is extensive, with competitions in fields like drama, dance, singing, literature, photography events, informals and fashion show among others. Three days of Spandan awaken the whole campus leaving them to prepare all night.
  • Nimble: It is the intra college technical fest provides a platform to the techno buds of the college to show their hidden talent. Nimble comprises of four action packed days filled with a great variety of tech and science events ranging from intense mind boggling events such as robotics, Electronics, programming to fun filled events like angry bird, quizzes, crypto etc. Apart from the events, the talks by eminent personalities in the field of Science and Technology are organized to motivate students to work harder as there is no end to discoveries and inventions.

Anti ragging

No, Ragging is strictly prohibited and punishable in institute and strict actions are taken if found so. Yes, IITJ do have strict policies against ragging and we also have an Anti-ragging Squad to prevent any kind of ragging in the institute.

How to reach

IIT Jodhpur is located on the outskirts of the city of Jodhpur and is well connected to other parts of country by road, rail and air. The Institute is located on National Highway 65 at Karwar Village, about 24 km from the railway station and 25 km from the airport; it takes approximately 45 mins and 40 mins to drive from airport and railway station to the Institute, respectively.

1. It is connected by rail to major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kota, Kanpur, Ahmedabad, Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Guwahati, Nagpur, Lucknow and Jaipur.

2. There are daily flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Jodhpur. Air India and Jet Airways operate the daily flight to each of these cities

3. Jodhpur is connected by mega-highway to major neighbouring cities, e.g., Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur and Ahmedabad. Deluxe and express buses ply to Jodhpur from Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Vadodara.

Reaching IIT Jodhpur

(a). From Airport to Campus
You can take a prepaid auto/taxi to the Institute, which is situated on National Highway 65, Nagaur Road, Karwad. You may ask the driver to go past Mandore on Nagaur Road. This Campus is about 28 km away from the airport

(b). From Railway Station to Campus
At Jodhpur Junction Railway Station, exit from Platform No.1 side. You can take a prepaid auto/taxi to the Permanent Campus of IIT Jodhpur, which is situated on National Highway 65, Nagaur Road, Karwad. You may ask the driver to go past Mandore on Nagaur Road. The campus is about 26 km away from the Station.
