The Department of Financial Studies (DFS), under the prestigious Delhi University, has been an institution of learning for students who aspire to enhance their managerial efficacy in the field of finance. For the past two decades DFS has been providing the industry with competent, proficient and dedicated finance professionals who have honed their skills through a full-time two-year MBA (Financial Management) Programme.

The MBA (FM) Programme seeks to cultivate its scholars about conceptual and analytical skills of financial decision making. What sets this course apart from its contemporaries in the area of management is the balanced concoction of various aspects of finance. The students are provided with inputs in the basic areas of managerial decision-making such as Managerial Economics, Quantitative Techniques, Financial Accounting, Corporate Law etc., as well as in different areas of finance such as Financial Management, Financial Services, International Finance, International Accounting, Investment Management, Project Appraisal and so on.

To keep students abreast with the latest developments in the field of finance the curriculum has been updated to include new courses such as Derivatives & Risk Management, Treasury Management, Real Estate Investment Management, Insurance Management, Mutual Funds Management, Equity Research, etc.
The summer training programme offers the students an opportunity to put the acquired financial knowledge to practice and also to leverage on the experience gained in their first year. The edge is further sharpened by constant interaction with the industry through the Annual Convention, Seminars, Workshops, Symposia and Research work.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements and Cutoffs for PG Programmes in Department of Financial Studies (DFS) University of Delhi :

      1.  Short-listing will be done on the basis of candidates’ CAT percentile and marks scored in Class X and Class XII Examinations.  Female candidates will be given some extra weightage. Candidates with the following undergraduate degrees receive extra weightage:

  • B. Com. (Hons.)
  • B. A. (Hons.) (Economics)
  • B. A. (Hons.) (Business Economics)
  • BBE
  • BBS/BMS
  • BFIA/BBA (FIA)

     2. The following weightage-system is followed for short-listing for GD/PI:

  • CAT Percentile – Weightage – 70%
  • Marks obtained in Class-X – Weightage – 10%
  • Marks obtained (best of four) in Class-XII – Weightage – 7.50%
  • Marks obtained in Mathematics/Business Mathematics in Class-XII Examination Weightage – 2.50% Female Candidates – Weightage – 5%
  • Candidates with the above mentioned Graduate Degrees – Weightage – 5%

     3. Final selection is based on CAT Scores, Marks scored in GD and PI, and Marks Scored in Class X and Class XII Examinations; and Weightage to female candidates.

     4. The  following weightage-system is followed for short-listing for final selection:

  • CAT Score – Weightage – 57.50%
  • Marks obtained in Class-X – Weightage – 5%
  • Marks obtained in Class-XII – Weightage – 5%
  • Marks obtained in Group Discussion – Weightage – 7.50%
  • Marks obtained in Personal Interview – Weightage – 20%
  • Female Candidates – Weightage – 2.5%
  • Candidates with the above mentioned Graduate Degrees – Weightage – 2.50%

      5. Please note, while academic background and others are given weightage as indicated above, but there is no separate weightage for work experience.
